Public Holiday in Uttar Pradesh

In Uttar Pradesh, schools are likely to remain closed on the occasion of Chhath Puja. Although the government has not yet issued an official notification, schools in cities like Varanasi and Gorakhpur may declare holidays. Chhath Puja is celebrated for four days and holds special significance for devotees from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh. During this period, people gather at rivers and ghats to offer prayers and Arghya to the Sun God.

Chhath Puja to Be Celebrated in Delhi on October 27

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced that all government institutions and offices will remain closed on October 27 in observance of Chhath Puja. On this day, all schools and colleges in the capital will also remain shut.

Bihar: Holidays Until October 29 for Chhath Puja

The Bihar government has declared an extended holiday period in observance of Chhath Puja. All offices and schools will remain closed until October 29. This comes soon after a long Diwali holiday break, during which government offices were also closed.

Extra Holiday in West Bengal

In West Bengal, in addition to Chhath Puja holidays on October 27 and 28, schools will also remain closed on October 31 for Jagaddhatri Puja, a regional festival. This will give teachers and students an extended festive break to enjoy the celebrations.

Holiday Schedule in Jharkhand

Chhath Puja is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Jharkhand as well. However, the official announcement regarding school holidays has not yet been made. The government is expected to release an official notification soon, following which all educational institutions will observe holidays for the festival.

Preparations for the grand Chhath festival began on Saturday, October 25. The festival is celebrated with immense devotion and enthusiasm in Delhi and other states. People clean and decorate the river ghats beautifully, creating a festive atmosphere everywhere. The timing of sunrise and sunset is considered extremely important during this festival, as devotees offer Arghya (holy water offering) to the Sun God during these moments to express gratitude and seek blessings.
