The Delhi Metro serves as a lifeline for millions of people in the capital. Now, the metro network is being expanded further, with new routes being developed across different regions. A new metro corridor is set to be constructed in Delhi, which will benefit not only the NCR region but also extend its advantages up to Rajasthan. Every day, lakhs of passengers commute via the metro, making it an essential part of urban life.
This new metro route will not only benefit Delhi, Dwarka Expressway, and New Gurugram but will also provide a great opportunity for passengers from Alwar to connect directly with the NCR. Under the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), a proposed station at Kherki Daula will be located very close to Alwar, for which a feasibility report is currently being prepared.
Union Minister of State for Planning, Statistics, and Programme Implementation, Rao Inderjit Singh, presented the metro route proposal during a recent PWD meeting held in Gurugram. He highlighted that metro services are currently available up to IFFCO Chowk in Gurugram and up to Dwarka in Delhi, but there is a growing need for metro connectivity for residents living along the Dwarka Expressway and in New Gurugram.
The construction of new metro stations and the extension of metro facilities between Dwarka and Kherki Daula will significantly boost regional development. This will offer new housing options with better connectivity for those seeking homes in Gurugram and Delhi. Moreover, the move is expected to give a strong push to the real estate sector.
Piyush Lohia, Director of Lohia Worldspace, said that the development of the Dwarka Expressway Corridor could mark the beginning of a new era for the real estate sector. It will create new opportunities not only for homebuyers and senior citizens but also for investors and small businesses.
Viren Mehta, Director of Elite Pro Infra, stated that enhancing connectivity from Kherki Daula to the Airport Metro through the Yashobhoomi Metro Line will directly link Gurugram’s major residential and commercial areas with Delhi. This will help reduce travel time and ease traffic congestion significantly.
